Monday - back in the US, at work, still wacky

The Singapore trip report is still on my laptop at home. It'll be posted sometime this week. I returned Friday night and then spent the whole weekend with Maura having a grand ol' time.

One of the high points was hiking up to Bowman's Tower. Not much of a hike, but it was a beautiful day and we ended with some good food and drinks in New Hope.

Now to do my expense report and start digging through everything that piled up while I was out for a week :p

Flying back soon

Trip report to be posted later, but here's the update.

A good trip for work. Wonderful flight (for 8000 miles or whatever) and having a fun/beneficial visit with local coworkers. Interesting projects and nice/fun/smart people to work with.

I did the famous late-afternoon, jet lag nap tonight. Now I'm having a couple of Tiger beers (Singapore brand) while I check e-mail. The flight leaves 11:30 tomorrow morning and arrives about 6 tomorrow night. I get to sleep in my own bed soon! Too bad the hotel bed is better :p

I'll be putting photos up on Yahoo of my night out with friends. Don't judge them by the company they keep.

Ready to fly

Looks like I got everything packed, just need to shut down the computer and drive to Newark (we'll, in a couple of hours). Off for a week in Singapore for work. I'll update from the road if anything interesting happens.

In fact, it appears I can update from the plane on Singapore Air. That's pretty sweet, eh?

I wrote it up separate so check it out here if you like. Photos are in the regular area.

Bringing Sunshine to the Midatlantic

Made it home about noon today, almost went straight through from Des Moines to Phila, but got too sleepy/dopey about 1am in western PA. Spent a $60 night at a Days Inn (good enough) and did the last 200 miles this morning.

Full report later, but the summary is: ~2600 miles, chain is shot, brought sunshine after 9 consecutive days of rain here and the kitty missed me a bunch. Unpack, shower, beer, more later.

Too much food!

So, hanging in Des Moines. Friday night was good Italian food, pesto ravioli and red zinfandel with Scot, Steve, Kathy, and Conor. Yum!

Saturday lunch was spicy peanut thai noodles at Z' something near the "new mall". It's all pretty new to me around here. High point was chatting with a nice girl working at the noodle place. I didn't get her name, but gave her the vfmatt address to check my trip report, so maybe she'll read this and chime in :)

Saturday dinner with Kelli, Chad, Josh, and Jordan was German food and beer at Hessen Haus. Yum again, too much food again, fun time with the family and especially the funny kids. Elk tenderloin was tasty, though it showed up cold. Waitress did a free dessert to make up for it and that was nice.

Now, to sleep as I'm tired and too full of food and beer. The parents don't have internet, so maybe no more updates until I get home. I'll try to stop eating so much. Everyone hope for warm, dry weather.

Speaking of which, Jeff called and said 7" of rain in Baltimore/east coast in 48hrs. I got out just in time. Yikes!

It's 800 miles to Chicago . .

Quick update from the road. 14 hours and ~800 miles from my house to the Holiday Inn in Elk Grove Village. Last 2 hours was to do 30 miles through rush hour traffic.

The forecast looks chilly but mostly dry to Des Moines. Hopefully make it by dark if the customer visit doesn't take too long.

Long trip, 2005

It's funny that my 4-day, 1500 mile trip I don't consider my long moto trip of the year. This 10-day, 2500 mile trip is the long one. No, I'm not wimpy, I'll only be travelling for 4 of the 10 days.

Leaving Thursday morning for Chicago, visit a vendor, spend a couple of nights visiting in Des Moines, and then to Omaha to visit family for 4 nights or as long as I can stand them :) (and vice versa) Return Friday the 14th and spend 0, 1, or 2 nights on the road, depending.

I'll try to blog from the road, but we all remember how poorly that worked last time. Be good until I get back.

I like toys

Got the new bike this morning. Had to rearrange the garage to get it in amongst the other projects, but I'll clean some more out to get it the room it deserves.

Happy Friday!

Some humor courtesy of Ruminations:

On the one hand, I hate it when somebody at
work makes popcorn in the microwave because
it smells so good it makes me really hungry
and they never share. On the other hand,
at least no one can tell I just farted.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to
fight a personal battle without it.

Enjoy your weekend as I am planning to enjoy mine. I suggest you do like I do and photograph your weekend, too, as a reminder of what you did.
