Chinese Wedding Tradition

In China (and Taiwan, Singapore, Korea - the ones I know for sure), there is a big photo and dinner tradition. You do the paperwork months (sometimes many months) before the wedding dinner. And an entire day of photos. In many costumes. Sometimes with ridiculous poses and hair style. And, in Suzhou if you are a local, you rent a Cadillac or Lincoln, form an entourage of cars, and tour through the city videotaping the whole thing. Last Saturday, one of my engineers had his wedding party; 5am to 10pm to get through the day.

For an example of some wedding photos, you can check out this page I put together. Not for the faint of heart. (I had no control over what they did to my hair)

It's properly written as 'do, but the spelling isn't important. The fact that it took two shampooings to get all the stuff out is the important part :p

We wish you could be here, too, but keep your fingers crossed that we can have a dinner in Omaha.

White boy! you must get some color on those legs!!!

I like the one w/you laying down probably the best of the 2 of you together. The blue is pretty but you look like you're going to prom!

I think Mom made you a pair of jammies like the one traditional outfit you're wearing.

I think you need to photo crop you out and just keep the picks of my sis-in-law. She is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I hope your kids look like GP w/the Osborne ears!

also, the Statue of Liberty is closer than you think. There is a replica in a park in Fremont!

Having taken the time to let them all soak in, I must say that the 2nd down on the left side looks like a the prom scene from an 80s teen movie, while the one next to it looks like the a bad 80s Skinemax movie (just what are you holding, anyway?). The bottom left one just makes you look like a hermaphrodite (though oddly enough, as Sara points out, one in traditional Korean wedding garb).

Luckily GP is consistently beautiful in all of them.

Lets party.

Wow, those are some intense asian glamour shots. I really hope my parents don't subject me to such torture when I get married!
